Hey everyone!
Welcome back to another installment of Za’s Guide! This time: smarties! Since y’all seem to need help sorting out the obvious. @SqueakyFriend did a great job with the art, as usual.
I don’t have much else to add here, honestly. All you need to know is right there in the post.
I promised Squeaky I wouldn’t use the N word so I’ll see you fellas later.
You are Correct on this assessment. Even the fandom wiki has to make a distinction.
I.e:
Smarty friends= not bastard
Smarty syndrome= yes bastard
(I think)
But Hellgremlin might be too long for most people and we do not have a term for the bastards… Anyone got ideas? =/
While I do think the asshole Smarty had become too ingrained to ever properly be excised from the community, I do agree that we need more good leader stories, or even well meaning but out of their depths leaders.
I have no idea how this mf managed to create an email and password, remember said email and password, and sign up for this website if he can’t even read well enough to see the entire slide about hellgremlins.
But if a fluffy doesn’t shit on my character’s lawn and call him a cuck how is my character supposed to be justified in fucking it to death with a Bad Dragon dildo? I can’t have my stories be morally grey!
See I feel like true hellgremlins should be rare, because Fluffies are on toddler mentality. They don’t have a developed moral compass beyond ‘this gets me punished and thus gets me a reward’ or even ‘this makes me happy, that doesn’t’, and are still of the opinion that the world revolves around them. They can and do act selfish, bratty or mean, but it’s because they’re cartoonishly exaggerated toddlers in mindset.
I wanna weigh in on this. Just about the smarty syndrome. I don’t know how others use it but I use smarty syndrome as a disorder that makes a smarty hella intelligent for a fluffy. This is enough to plan and execute said plan on the level of a reasonable smart animal. My characters Fire, Trash, and Milk have the syndrome.
Smarty on the other hand follow this guide to a T. They are just fluffies with a few more brain cells. My characters Soil and Regal fall into this category.
I don’t find the syndrome inherently bad if used a distinction.
That is a neat usage of it and would make it palatable! But most people use smarty syndrome as a way to explain why smarties exist at all, and will say a fluffy shows signs of smarty syndrome if it is ever bratty or demanding. So rather than indicating unusual intelligence, it’s just used as a shorthand for “acts like a spoiled brat/bad smarty”, and claims that all smarties in existence are that way because of this smarty syndrome.
I know some people use it as a sort of terminology for ‘being a spoiled brat who THINKS they’re smart and are obsessed with being in charge’, like a sort of…psychological diagnosis for a Fluffy. (I dunno, like ODD or something-).
More like Dunning-Kreuger effect though really, at least in my opinion. No actual increased intelligence but being so dumb that they can’t realize they’re idiots-
