Here’s some lil critters that I’ve been wantin to make some designs for!
Meet Acorn, a lil feral goober who’s brimming with love and energy, and his best friend Twig, a Hasbio alicorn experiment gone wrong! …who is definitely not on the run. At all. Or hyper intelligent. Don’t ask her too much about it.
Will prolly doodle mushy hugbox stuff with these two, and I’ve got some ideas for other friends/future herd members that could join them :3
(Also just wanted to thank folks who’ve commented on and liked my first post, y’all are so nice and thank you so much for the warm welcome to the community! ; w ; )
Jesus hell how do you fuck up your alicorn experiment that bad
What did they do?? Who let them do this??
At least it makes for a great bodyguard, and a cute duo with li’l Acorn. Very cute stuff! Acorn thinking he needs to protect Twig from something is just sweet.
Wait, I just realized, is Twig mute? She isn’t saying anything in either doodle. And I have to ask, how smart is “hyper intelligent”? What can Twig’s magic do, other than glow ominous red and make things hover a bit?
Ah, alicorn mutant… monster thing. That is… one of the choices ever. Very Reddit-chic.
Abomination thing is too MLP-ish in style to really be called a fluffy of any manner, the “le hyper intelligent” thing just reads like uninspired slop, the magic is just… fucking what?
This frankly needs quite a heavy revision to be palatable as an even slightly fluffy-related idea.
sorry! I’m pretty new here so I didn’t realise that I’d messed up! I’m pretty new to drawing horse/equine/fluffy stuff in general so I’m still getting used to the anatomy n whatnot. I’d like to make Twig a lot more messed up lookin down the line, so hopefully I can distance myself from the mlp style in the future. Its still early days, yknow?
As for the unispired stuff, yeah, it absolutely is ahaha, but I just wanna draw stuff that I find interesting and fun!! It’ll develop itself down the line should i choose to doodle some more.
The only thing I have issue with really is the reddit thing lol, I’m not from there nor do i wanna go there!!
Your art is very nice but your concept has been done to death. Making fluffies smart is boring. That’s gonna be most people’s gripes with this.
Edit: To go a bit further- fluffies are the world’s punching bag. While your ideas aren’t bad, they just go against the general idea of what fluffies are- disposable but sentient ‘toys’ for humans.
At the end of the day: Do wat u wan, though, and I mean that lol
Reddit-chic just means “similar to what some people on reddit make” - no quality control there, so they can make up anything and everything and call it a fluffy.
Personally I like Twig! While hyper-intelligent fluffies are a dime a dozen and I don’t really know what hyper-intelligence adds to this idea anyway, eldritch horror mistake fluffies are more rare and I like her concept. Just gotta make her recognizable as a fluffy instead of an MLP in a fur coat!
I personally don’t get the hate, even if the premise brings to mind the old trope of alicorns practically being gods among fluffies. Based on your previous comic, you clearly understand what a fluffy is, and the premise of a random feral fluffy that has won the favor of a powerful Creature beyond its comprehension is appealing to me.
Considering Twig’s… everything, I can only assume that this version of Hasbio went around deals with some sort of extradimensional beings when they were making fluffies. It would explain why the setting of most fluffy work is just “present day but with fluffies” - if humanity has developed the means to engineer a completely new animal to be a living toy, why hasn’t the rest of technology advanced similarly?
See the quote below, understand just how insane that is and how it doesn’t fit into fluffy lore at all, and reconsider the hate:
Frankly? Things like “Twig” have no business existing in a fluffy setting whatsoever and we as a community need to enforce the standards that we have created.
Many people weren’t here for the jellen-tsunami, so they don’t know how such self-reinforcing designs can get out of hand.
It’s fine when one person pushes the bounds, but then other newcomers see it, and they want to push boundaries and get praise too. So they make even more eldritch creatures. And the cycle continues. Before long, newcomers see these abominations and think “Oh? These are allowed? This is cool. I will draw this too.”
And the cycle deepens.
I think the skill shown in the artwork is great.
But I agree that you should stick to fluffies without the Eldritch Abomination Pal.
I hadn’t thought of it like that before, but I sort of understand now. I still can’t bring myself to actively dislike this if only for how nice it looks, but I get that people here have their reasons for not encouraging these kinds of characters.
That being said, I stand by the belief that the process that brought fluffies into existence being supernatural in nature would be an interesting horror premise if it was pulled off well.
Don’t drop this idea altogether, it’s obviously something you want to explore but I’d recommend getting some experience with regular fluffies under your belt before you start trying to subvert them.
If you want the alicorn to be visually distinct beyond the shapeshifting I’d only exaggerate the features ~15% the size of a normal fluffy as opposed to the multiple times larger displayed here. Keep them chubby like a normal fluffy, but rather than slim and elegant limbs, make them gangly as to express their unsettling nature.
As well I’d personally drop the hyper-intelligence down to “smart for a fluffy” which is about as smart as a vocal three year old. Enough that it maintains the power dynamic between the two characters characters but doesn’t break what a fluffy is at their core. I think you’ll also end up finding it more rewarding than the direction your heading now, but that’s just speculation.
