An idea I’ve had for a while now that was motivated by many things. It would take a while to cover the many things that influences this story, so I’ll try to go one by one:
-
Carpdime once did a picture about fluffies being born naturally as a cost-saving measure, which has made me imagine that the earliest generations of fluffies were custom-made, and that a “Build-A-Fluffy” would be a refinement of this process
-
in Blade Runner, replicants were made of biological organs that were made synthetically, with certain engineers being experts in the specific organs they crafted.
-
one of the inspirations for this story has been the art of woodturning, which I had started watching a few months back due to their ASMR-ish nature. I had the idea of a fluffy being created via “woodturning”, and that idea somehow morphed into “boneturning”
-
one rejected idea I had for the bone material that was sculpted was that it was “born” from a fluffy, much like this image by Muffin. I decided to scrap the idea
-
and of course, fluffy shearing was based off Fluffy wool by Chikahiro
-
one of the biggest influences on this story was Gorodestky’s “Magical Ponies”, which depicted MLP ponies being abducted by humans, lobotomized, and inducted into human society. While the approach is different due to the differing nature of fluffy pony canon, this story can be imagine as a “successor” and even an update to Gorodestky’s story.
This story is set within the Avocadoverse, but it should be noted that Amy settled for Princess Pinky, which was bought from a shop as opposed to a Build-A-Fluffy.
EDIT: As confirmed below, this particular story is not canon, as Amy got a bicycle instead. That said, this story works as a what if, as well as an exploration of the kind of technology available within the Avocadoverse.
