“Through bravery we defend, through wisdom we rule.”
[Motto of House Doe-StrongWing]

[3 Months after the end of chapter 2]

As the early summer sun began rising from the horizon, I awoke feeling it’s rays on my face. I get up for a quick stretch, before putting on my things and start heading to the kitchen where I see Mom already awake and making some breakfast. As I go to sit at the table she speaks, still looking at the food.
“Gud am finawwy awake. Got a bit of wabbit meat cooking, an’ some fwuit an’ bwead to.”
That sounds so good! Mom begins to bring over the food and she speaks, speaking of something that was growing in the back our heads for the past week.
“It’s gon’ get weaw wonewy when ‘ou weabe tomowwow. An’ wiff am bwuddah awso gone, ugh…”
Hearing this made me feel down. My brother left Seaside around 2 months ago, with him given an opportunity out in the rural city of WindTrail (It was somewhere near the Chicago border) for some well paying carpentry work. And him only sending a letter once every 3 weeks (And probably no letter, once it starts getting cold) And that now I was leaving to begin my second tour, Mom was going to be all alone now. She speaks noticing me looking sad.
“Nu wowwy honey, it wiww be fine. Actuawwy I meant to teww 'ou dis eawwiah buh Aubwey wants to meet ‘ou, somethin’ impowtant I’ww say, she wooked upset.”

Upset? I am a bit confused speaking.
“Why?”
Mom shrugs as I begin eating, wondering why? After I finish I give Mom a hug goodbye and begin heading to where Aubrey usually is (by the temple, or near it) As I got to it, I started looking around seeing where she was and after a few minutes of looking I heard a familiar voice coming from above me.
“Gud am finawwy hewe, we nee’ to tawk.
I look up to see Aubrey making her way down a staircase going to a upper level of the city, and once she finally reaches me I speak, confused.
“What’s goin’ on?”
Aubrey speaks with her trying her best to keep tears at bay.
“It’s 'ou emiwy!”
I speak shocked and confused.
“What!?”
Aubrey begins to cry as she continues speaking.
“Ou changed Emiwy! ‘ou nebah wan’ to hang out wiff Aubwey anymowe, ‘ou awways say am to busy to do anything! An’ nao that am weabing… What am I not gud enough, am Woyaw Guawd buddies bettah fwiends!”
She speaks the last part with a bit of anger, and I speak trying my best to keep my composure.

“Aubwey 'ou nu undewstand, emiwy wost a pawent wess den a yeaw ago. And-”
Aubrey speaks interrupting me.
“What! 'Ou seem wike acompwetewy diffewent pewson!”
Hearing Aubrey say this I speak without thinking, anger boiling inside of me.
“Aubwey hab 'ou ebah seen an entiwe famiwy cwushed to death by cowwapsed wubbwe! Hab 'ou ebah had to kiww somebody! It changes ‘ou fowebah. Emiwy sowwy if fwuffy nu wan’ to do dah same dummeh things, we did since we wewe foaws. Gwow up!”
Not even a second after I finished speaking I felt a slap a across my face, and Aubrey speaking abruptly.
“Aubwey hates 'ou, nebah tawk to fwuffy again!
Aubrey storms out as I am in to much shock to even react. But once Aubrey is gone and I had a second to comprehend everything I strike the wall with my hoove enraged. Before heading back home, thinking about trying to run after her, but eventually brushing it aside.

Mom seemed quite concerned when I returned home, with me looking angry and upset and my hoove having a bruise on it. All I said was that I didn’t want to talk about it and she seemed to understand, and I went back into my room to do some exercises. Preparing myself physically for my duties. As next day came around, I thought about what Aubrey said to me, and began feeling like I should go find her to apologize. But before I could go out, I was to late as I heard a knock than voice coming from outside.
“Am dis dah wesidence of dah Woyaw guawd Emiwy ughhh, bwank? it’s time to go.”
Just before I headed out I gave Mom one last hug and spoke, trying my best to osund positive.
“Shouwdn’t be as wong as dah fiwst touw, I’ww be back in wintewtime. make suwe to send wettews.”
As I began making my way to the door I could see Mom wiping away tears, and we waved goodbye to each other. Than like that I headed out, seeing who was knocking at the door.

Infront of me was the recruiter I had met, what was it, over a year ago? (That was fast!) I looked at me speaking.
“Gud, wet’s go to dah wagon.”
As we begin to walk he speaks again.
“fwuffy’s babbeh webewend, towd fwuffy wot of what ‘ou did. An’ what was on dah news. I apowogize.”
I speak as we continue to walk.
“It’s otay’.”
Than he speaks again with a bit of happiness in his voice.
“Webewend when he weft met somebody, am goin’ to be a gwandfathah in awound a months time.”
I am shocked hearing this, really? I speak as I start seeing the wagon.
“Congwatuwations.”
As we make it to the cart, I see reverend and a pregnant mare speaking and they kiss as he makes his way to the cart. Once he sees me he speaks.
“Hewwo Emiwy, it’s gud to see 'ou again!”
I speak as I get on the cart.
“Hewwo! emiwy was towd by am daddeh, congwatuwations!”
Reverend speaks
“Fank 'ou! hew name am Wekki. webewend met hew a week aftah we weft Stabwewot, it was wike wub at fiwst sight!”
As we wait for a second Reverend speaks, looking at his Dad.
“What’s dah howd up?”
He speaks looking at a clipboard.
“One mowe”
As we waited for just a bit longer, I saw him Dar. he was walking up to the wagon and we all waved to him and he waved back, with him going up to the recruitment officer and speaking.
“Sowwy if am a bit wate. Wasn’t make wind out at sea.”
The officer shrugs as Dar climbs in, and we look at each other and blush before Reverend goes in and gives him a hug. As I also start going in, the officer speaks looking at the driver.
“Wewe sein’ dis one to Stabwewot. Goodbye my son!”
And with that the wagon begins moving, and we begin to make our way to Stablelot. Fin
