“Enoch doesn’t know Tethius, I’be been habin’ a wot of thoughts wecentwy. It feews wike wewe weachin’ dah end of something, an end of an ewa. Dah wowwd’s changin’ an’ if we win dis thing, dah wowwd we wetuwn to isn’t goin’ to be dah one we wewe bown in.”
[A quote from Enoch during a conversation with Tethius]
In a split second dozens of Talon Knights pulled out there weapons and surrounded the Chicago leadership, Royal governor Fellie yelling out as she fell back.
“MUNSTAH, MUNSTAH!”
Vela looked at them with a horrible bitter look, but not a surprised one. Enoch speaks, trying the best to calm the situation while everyone else was still confused and speechless.
“Wait, stahp! dah Changewings am wiff us, dey wan’ to stahp Pandemon as weww!”
Vissarman looked at Enoch shocked, confused, and most of all a bit betrayed. Like the type of betrayal where two people make plans, but one person unexpectedly brings a third for who they know much more. Or even a bit stranger feeling, like someone getting dumped. Vissarman spoke, both looking at Vela while on guard and looking at Enoch.
“What the hell are you talking about “The Changelings are with us” How could you this, they are almost as bad as the enemy!”
Neither Enoch or Vissarman responded next, as Vela shouted out. Her obviously offended by Vissarman’s comment.
“How dare you speak of such things! Rotten to the core Chicago scum!”
GrimDal seeing the situation quickly deteriorate, shouts.
“QUIET!”
Everyone stops and silence returns, after a few seconds he speaks again.
“It’s obvious that the travels and late hours have left Ssome of us in bad temper, Ssstarting this conference now was a bad call. We’ll begin in the morning, I see it everyone needs a good rest and some time to breath.”
Vissarman looking at Enoch was a betrayed and venomous look speaks.
“Agreed…”
Vela hearing Vissarman’s comment speaks as well, her tone sarcastic and condescending.
“The feelings mutual.”
GrimDal speaks, looking at his guards.
“Escort the new arrivals to their quarters, will you?”
The nod and begin leading the leaders and most of the soldiers to where they would be staying. It was now only me, Charles, Dar and the rest of the Royal Guard. With only Enoch and Tethius remaining. Enoch speaks to Tethius, sounding exhausted with a hint of defeat.
“‘Ou wan’ to handwe Bewa?”
Tethius speaks, a tone matching Enoch’s.
“Gud wuck wiff Bissawman, dey know nao an’ am not happy one bit… Fuck!”
Tethius heads in the direction of Vela, and Enoch turns to look at us. Him speaking to the Royal Guard.
“'Ou may nao aww west if 'ou wish. Commandews 'ou may go if ‘ou wan’ as weww, Enoch knows how hawd dis twip has been.”
The Royal Guard begins leaving, walking in the direction of the Dragons. Even though I’m tired I know how much is at stake, I speak.
“Nu wowwy Am Majesty, we’ww hewp! Wite Daw, wite Chawwes?”
Dar nods and Charles who looked as though he was going to head off at any moment notices us looking at him and quickly nods. Enoch speaks, us following him.
“Pway fo’ a miwacwe…”
Making our way through the Dragon Lord’s residence we made it to the area where the leader’s were resting, it being a large stone hallway with many doors and torches. And even though with the sheer amount of doors, we instantly recognized where the Chicago leadership were staying. Two Talon bodyguards and a loud discussion going on behind the door. We approach and the bodyguards stop us, the one to the right speaking in a horrible wicked tone.
“State you’re business!”
Enoch speaks, trying his best to sound calm and collected.
“Enoch wishes to speak wiff dah Gwandmastah an’ Gobewnow’s. Fiwst to offah my apowogy fo’ keepin’ secwets, an’ to make things wite.”
The guard speaks, his anger becoming ever more noticeable.
“Well they are not in the mood of speaking, they had a very long trip and wish to-”
We could hear Vissarman’s voice coming from the other side, him hearing Enoch.
“I think that’s Enoch on the other side! You know what, I’m giving him a piece of my mind!”
The door violently opens and where met by Vissarman, his once joyful and supportive attitude now replaced by with horrible feelings of betrayal. He speaks instantly.
“HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO US, INVITEING THOSE- THOSE- MONSTERS!”
Enoch speaks not giving into reaction and keeping a calm straight tone and face.
“Wook Bissawman, Enoch apowogizes fo’ not tewwin’ ‘ou. That am aww on my pawt, an’ was a howwibwe thin’ Enoch did. Buh dis waw, we couwd wose ebewything!”
With the last part Enoch sounds a bit emotional, him taking a long sigh after. Vissarman however doesn’t looked so moved, he speaks the apology only subsiding his anger slightly.
“Lose everything? Enoch do you know how much this war has costed us!? With a harsh long winter and the soldiers we mobilized, we might run out of food! If you’re going to go ally with them, I don’t think this war is for us…”
Vissarman was about to close the door, but I put a hoove in front to stop it. I speak enraged and desperate, the Talon guards pointing weapons as I look at him.
“Wait just a minute! If 'ou won’t hewe him ouw, at weast hewe me!”
Vissarman stops and thinks, after a few moments he looks at his guards and gives the signal to lower their weapons. He speaks coldly.
“What could you possibly say!? It’s already over!”
I speak, thinking the best idea I could.
“‘Ou speak of a food showtage, it bein’ a wough cowd time an’ aww. Weww Bissawman if ‘ou stay fo’ dis confewence, we maybeh be abwe to sowbe it. An’ it’s not wike ‘ou am deawin’ wiff bad fowtunes, motow am on dah bwink of economic cowwapse as we speak.”
Vissarman looks at me confused, speaking with an air of arrogance.
“How is that even possible!? You have extra food in Motor, because after that lie I expect it for free!”
I speak.
“Hey Emiwy was dah one to make Madanak agwee to come wiff us in dah fiwst pwace, fwuffy wiww make suwe 'ou get food if 'ou agwee to attend.”
Vissarman thinks hard for a few moments, I had no idea if he would swallow his pride just a bit. He speaks, looking at me.
“Fine than… But don’t expect me to place nice with the bugs! And also bringing a large number of bodyguards…”
I speak.
“That’s aww Emiwy am askin’.”
We leave and Enoch speaks, having no idea what I was going to do.
“How am ‘ou goin’ to ficks dis!?”
I speak.
“Weww 'ou bettah hope Tethius made a gud impwession wiff Bewa. If dis somehow wowks emiwy may be a genius.”
I make my way to Vela’s chamber alone. It being on the other side of the residence, and took me about 10 minutes to walk over to it. A Changeling guard speaks as I approach the door.
“State you’re business!”
I speak.
“Emiwy wishes to speak wiff Tethius an’ Bewa, am a Woyaw Guawd commandah an’ met wiff Biwtwa months back.”
The guards speaks, beginning to open the door.
"Once you’re in there tell Tethius to finish up, the Queen requires her rest.
Heading inside I see a surprisingly lightly decorated room, Vela and Tethius sat close to each other in conversation, them both having a glass of wine as well. The second both notice me they stop, and Tethius speaks with a light smile on his face.
“Ah Emiwy, gud to see ‘ou. If am hewe to gib an update to Enoch, Tethius has gud news. Dah Changewings am wiwwin’ to fowgibe chicago fo’ theiw outbuwst, me expwainin’ dah context of what happened.”
Not wanting to beat around the bush, I tell Vela my idea. Her reaction to it, well…
“You want us to give them our food, what the hell!”
I speak trying to justify my stance.
“Fwom what Emiwy heawd an’ saw, dah Hibes hab a giant agwicuwtuwaw base. If ‘ou just gib them somethin’ to suwbibe dis yeaw, dey’ww be much mowe wiwwin’ to be on ouw side, maybe eben make them question dewe bewiefs.”
Vela responds.
“Oh we have more than enough, our stockpiles can last of years! But to just give them things for free, after everything they do and say! Completely absurd…”
I speak, knowing there might be one thing I could leverage.
“What am it? Name one wequest that we can gib, somethin’ Motow can gib. What am somethin’ that Changewings couwd need?.”
Vela hearing this is speechless, while Tethius is shocked. After a few seconds of pondering, Vela speaks. Her giving me a smile that made me instantly know that what we were about to give up was going to be a lot more valuable than food. Fin
