Abandoned Angel

Part 34: Now There Were Three

Angel didn’t know what to do. Mary took Bright away. Then there was screaming, lots of screaming! Angel cowered with Robin and Brave on the bed, they hugged and cried. And cried even harder when the screaming stopped. Lots of scary poopies and peepee soaked into the bed. Angel didn’t dare let go of Brave and Robin. The two brothers sobbed into her fur, the warm fluff pile they made shivered and shook from the fear.

Robert sat on the couch while two police officers went about their business. One officer was taking pictures. Robert surmised the officer with the camera was a fluffy abuser as he had a grin on his face the whole time he took the pictures. He moved on from photographing the scene to collecting finger prints then on to bits of fur and blood. The other officer, the one talking to Robert, was all business.

“So, you came home to this. And the front door was unlocked? Your ex-girlfriend, who thinks you two are engaged, has a history of fluffy abuse and gave you three mutilated fluffies, somehow came in and left you that note written in blood?” Robert nodded and Officer Pence shook his head. “We’ve got one realistic way to deal with this here…”

“Which is?” Robert’s voice cracked.

“Well, did you ever give her a key to the house?”

“Never. We dated for a few weeks. I never gave her a key.” Robert was adamant. He shook his head. “I ended it with her. She’s crazy as hell!”

“Okay, so here is the deal,” Officer Pence took a deep breath, “and remember, I don’t make the rules. I don’t make the laws. Fluffies are considered biological toys, not animals. We can charge her with breaking and entering along with personal property damage. You’ve got a good case of getting a PPO based upon the stalking history. I hope you saved those texts, and if there is any other witnesses to her behavior, that’ll help even more. With the little love note she left on the table, well, they could possibly even tack on terroristic threats. I highly suggest you get a lock smith over and change all of your locks.”

Officer Pence looked sympathetic, “And, unfortunately, the mess she left, well, you might want to call a cleaning service. Next, we’re going to pay her a visit. In some situations we would take the damaged property into evidence, but in this case we will let you bury your pet. Tomorrow I will give you an update to the situation when you come to the station to file a full report. ”

Robert nodded, he felt dull and numb. He took the card offered by Officer Pence and both officers left to pay Mary a visit. Not much later Erin arrived, quickly giving Robert a hug. The silence hung in the room for some time as she helped him clean up the horror Mary left. The safe room had quieted down, but he still didn’t want to face the fluffies yet. They had plenty of food to last the day, making any excuse he could to avoid dealing with them for the time being.

Every bump, every door opening or closing, made the fluffies jump. It had been hours since Bright disappeared with mummah. The screams were so loud! Then it was so quiet! Robin silently cried into Angel’s fluff, he missed his brother so much. Angel mustered enough courage to drag the blanket on top of them, if the munsta couldn’t see them then they’d be safe. Daddeh will save them, they all thought.

It was getting dark as Robert dug a small grave in the corner of his back yard. Erin stood behind Robert, watching as he gently placed Bright’s body into the ground, letting the earth claim the corpse. It felt like forever as she held him by the freshly filled grave. No words were spoken for the still and cold fluffy.

“Dat’s daddeh.” Brave whispered to Angel and Robin as he heard the footsteps outside the room. They remained huddled together, terrified that there were munstas in the house, ready to eat them or give them forever sleepies. All three felt braver and safer now that daddeh was returning. For hours and hours they sat terrified.

Angel and Robin didn’t budge, their heads poking out from under the blanket, trying their best to remain hidden. Robert and Erin entered the safe room. Quickly the three ran from the bed, all of them reeked. They had spent hours on that bed, terrified and making scary poopies and peepee. Robert went to his knees and scooped up all three.

Brave squirmed the most in Robert’s arms, “Whewe Bwight? Wots of woudies aftew he weft! Whewe Bwight? Whewe bruddeh?” Angel and Robin looked up, expecting an answer.

Erin put her hand on Robert’s shoulder, “You have to tell them.” She gave his shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

“Bright…” Robert cleared his throat, “Bright is gone.” All three fluffies tilted their heads, not quite grasping.

“Wen bruddeh com back?” Brave asked. Robert choked back a sob, tears freely flowing.

“Why saddies, daddeh?” Angel asked, worried now, even more worried than before. She squeezed her daddeh with the bestest huggies ever! Huggies fix everything!

Robin tried to squirm closer to his daddeh, he so badly wanted daddeh to not have saddie wawas. All three fluffies hugged against Robert, not comprehending the gravity of the situation.

“Bright died.” He managed to get the words out. “He has forever sleepies.”

“Bruddeh foweva sweepies? Nu. Wan bruddeh!” Brave’s hugs turned into tiny pats at he tried his hardest to pound them into his daddeh. “Gib bruddeh back!” Tears squeezing from his forever shut eyes.

Angel made a quiet huuing into Robert’s shirt. Brave’s anger replaced by loss mirrored Angel. Robin, unable to articulate, released the loudest sorrowful howling cry, a mourning cry that would haunt Robert for the longest time. Erin put her arms around Robert, offering what little comfort she could to this broken family.

Erin stayed that evening helping Robert even more. She rarely got more than three steps before a sobbing fluffy stopped her, sniffling and holding it’s hooves up, pathetically asking for hugs. Robert was useless that night, he sat on the couch while Erin fed and left the fluffies on Robert’s bed so they did not spend the night alone. Few words were exchanged between the two humans, even as Erin helped Robert to bed. Erin joined Robert and the fluffies, holding him until he fell asleep to dreams of Bright in the sink and Robin’s wailing.
