Mutagen’s Munchkins Returns!
Welcome back everyone, to the second edition of Mutagen’s Munchkins! Before we get to the winners of the competition and the next event, I wanted to give a big thank you to everyone who participated. The amount of entries blew me away, and I’m really pleased with the turnout and the creativity you guys showed off.
A special thank you to @Virgil and the rest of the FluffyCommunity staff for helping make this happen and endorsing the competition. It wouldn’t be possible without all of you! Be sure to check out the first edition to see all the contestants and their fabulous entries.
On to the good stuff. After careful deliberation, our expert competent volunteer judges have selected…
The Winners!

Third Place
Goes to @Foxhoarder for Towers of Hanoi! A cute little entry with some excellent expressions that really captures the absolute gamer rage Ragequit encapsulates.
Second Place
Goes to @fluffsplosion for Minesplat! Judges loved the monster-fueled monster rampage, and turning Ragequit into an anthro goliath from drinking energy drinks was an unexpected twist.

First Place
Goes to @NekuChan for Ragequit’s Gamble, The Abuser’s casino! This entry not only used Ragequit’s prompt to its fullest extent, but also takes it in an unexpected direction (underground fluffy gambling??) with some intense anime expressions. Also the only entry to take more of an “abuse” angle!
Congratulations to everyone who placed and entered, and a special congrats to @NekuChan! You’ll each receive a badge symbolizing your incredible accomplishment.
Now onto the next competition! This week’s edition is illustrated and designed by our winner, @NekuChan! Look forward to more community artists creating future entries in Mutagen’s Munchkins.
What is Mutagen’s Munchkins?
Mutagen’s Munchkins is a spiritual successor to Funk’s Foals, an adoptable contest run by Funkshire on Fluffybooru before its demise. In this competition, a foal is presented to the community for them to do with what they will, submitting art or stories to compete for its adoption (and a cash prize).
What are the rules? (Updated)
Only a few rules:
- Submissions are limited to one person (you can do several pieces, but they will be judged as a whole, not individually).
- This is not an “adoptables” contest. While yes, “adoption” of the foal is one of the rewards, the core of the contest is to create interesting and creative content based around a central theme, not to convince judges you deserve to adopt the featured foal.
- This is not a hugbox-only contest. You can use the foal of the competition in any way you see fit. Any kind of medium is allowed: art, stories, music, videos, etc.
- Enfie-babbeh tagged content will not be considered.
- Entries must be submitted before midnight, August 10th, PDT. Not sure when that is? See the handy countdown timer here! That’s two weeks, baby!
How do I enter?
The contest is open to anyone. Simply upload your work here on fluffycommunity.com, and be sure to leave a link in your submission to this post (like Theme Week). Your submission should feature the featured foal front-and-center in any way you desire.
How will I be judged?
Judging will be performed based on creativity, cuteness, abuse value, use of the foal’s story and personality, etc. While artistic quality is considered, it is not the deciding factor. Don’t be discouraged by other submissions!
Wait, why even bother competing?
For monetary incentive, of course. The winner of the competition, aside from receiving obscure internet subcommunity clout, will be the proud owner of a $15CAD Steam gift card! If you will not or cannot accept this prize, it will instead be donated in your name to the RAPS Cat Sanctuary, one of the largest cat sanctuaries in North America. Plus, the foal of the contest will be adopted by you! Yes, you! Please take care of it. Or don’t, I’m not a cop.
So, who is this foal?
Don’t let his appearance fool you; despite Spike’s colors, scars, and frankly generous size for a foal, he’s an absolute sweetheart. He’s a tough little guy, but full of joy and positivity.
When he was first brought in, Spike had all the makings of a future toughie, but I was amazed to see him turning his energy and size to protecting other fluffies instead of oppressing them. I saw him rebel against a smarty foal after he tried to use him to bully his smaller kin. Spike is very protective and caring of foals who can’t protect themselves, like chirpys or pillows, protecting
them aggressively.
Unfortunately, in typical fluffy fashion, he tends to overestimate himself, getting into fights with bigger or older fluffies when defending his protégés from harassment. The lost fights and beatings have earned him a number of scars, but hasn’t dampened his spirit.
Thanks to @NekuChan for creating and designing Spike!
Good luck to all!
