Chapter 8: A Day Of Rest Part 1

Sunday morning and the Dandyman sat on his front veranda, seated at the top of the steps. A hand was gently stroking through the soft brown fluffy of the heavily pregnant mare Cocoa. The mare was humming happily as her daddeh’s fingers gently strummed through her fluff. She was lying upon a large blue cushion helping to cushion her overly large belly. Her legs had inflated and she was no longer able to walk on her own, needing assistance. The Dandyman had used the spell Telekinesis allowing him to easily lift the mare without causing any injuries to her growing babies.

“Heee heee wub daddeh! Wub tummeh babbehs!” The chocolate mare sang happily.

The herd had been given the day off, as had become tradition. The Dandyman allowed them the time to sleep in, play, watch tv or babble with friends. The day was theirs to do with as they pleased.

“Peeep! Chirp!”

“Peeep wub!”

“Wub baww!”

“Wub stuffy fwen!”

“Dwance fu mummah! Wub mummah Wiwac!”

“Numnumnum wub kwibbwe nummies!”

“URGH! Gud poopies!”

“Wub bwockies!”

"Peep! pbbbtt! chirp!

“Wub senseetib bwuddah!”

The cacophony of noise and baby voices filled the air. Looking down by the Dandyman’s feet at the bottom of the stairs was the ex-breeding mare Lilac. She was happily giggling and playing with her large brood of adopted foals. She was currently holding one of the chirpy babies who was slowly opening his eyes and announcing his love for his mummah. His little wings fluttered happily as he wiggled in her grasp.

A pair of chirpies, one red earthie and a brown alicorn were happily feeding from her tears. Below them a pair of sibling earthies one blue and one green were hugging each other happily in a small fluff pile, their little tails wagging. To her right was a slightly older alicorn foal with mixes of reds and browns, his horn a deep blue. The alicorn was happily eating from a bowl of foal kibble. To her left sat neatly on the grass was a small litter box for foals. A purple earthie colt was doing his business and singing about making good poopies for daddeh.

In front of her were five more fluffy foals. One was a lime green and yellow filly who was dancing for her mother. To the left were a pair of cerulean blue pegasus siblings, a filly and colt. The colt was holding his red, orange and yellow ball while his sister was cuddling her brown stuffy friend. On the other side were two more foals. A dark grey filly unicorn with pink hair, mane and tail. Her eyes were a sparkling purple, she had a number of deep magenta dots along the underside of her belly. She was happily stacking blocks with her brother. He as an orangey brown earthie with yellow eyes. Unlike his sister who was chatting and talking, he was babbling, peeping and still chirping, he was a sensitive foal.

Amongst the foals the dancing filly, the dotted unicorn filly and the sensitive baby were from the same litter. The two cerulean babies, the alicorn and purple earthie were from another litter. Meanwhile the five chirpies were all siblings. However none of the foals were Lilac’s own babies, but ones she had adopted. Lilac could no longer have children of her own, but she made a great nurse mare, taking in parentless foals and caring for them as if they were her own. She did not discriminate against colours or types.

“Wub fwens!” A happy cry came as the brown foal Coconut came running past giggling. Behind him ran his sister Olive, behind her stumbling along the derpy brother Mango. Behind them came two sparkling foals, the two glitter fluffies. They were laughing and playing chasies with the ‘poopie’ trio.

“Wub chasies!” The filly of the glitter duo giggled happily running after her friends. “Gun getchu Owibe!”

“Heeheee! Owibe wun fwas!” The olive coloured mare, her name sake, ran off ahead as the glitter filly Sapphire chased her.

“Careful little ones.” The Dandyman called out to the band of foals as they giggled, waving at him before continuing to play their game of tag.

“Otay daddeh!”

The two glitter foals after the rehabilitation no longer discriminated against unwanted or bad colours. The two had become well behaved fluffies, not daring to misbehave and be bad, fearing being returned to the shed. Partially due to the horrific torture they had witnessed and the subtle suggestion spell the Dandyman had been casting on them. Every time he fed or interacted with the two glitter foals he was casting the suggestion spell upon their tiny little minds, altering them bit by bit. The spell was incredibly effective on fluffies and seemed to have permanent effects.

Most notably on the fluffy Cobalt who had been a horrible smarty. It had been two days since his release amongst the herd. In that time the suggestion spell held strong and the fluffy was absolutely terrified of being labelled a bad fluffy. He did his best to learn how to be a good fluffy, following Lemon and the herd around, listening to them.

The five fluffies continued to run around the Dandyman’s front yard happily chasing after each other. Any time Mango got tagged the others would slow down for the derpy fluff allowing him to tag one of them. He’d laugh and start running around, mostly in circles. The others were careful not to be too rough with him but still included him in the fun.

“Perhaps there’s a way to fix his little fluff brain.” Contemplated the Dandyman watching the derped colt run around with his siblings and friends. An experiment for another time, of course the Dandyman wouldn’t use Mango as a guinea pig, he’d find a handful or hell gremlin fluffies to practise with first. The Dandyman wasn’t about to harm one of his sweet little fluffies, not unless they deserved it.

Luckily the owner of the giant fluff herd had yet to deliver any punishment to any of Lemon’s original herdmates. The herd was well behaved, and if anyone got out of line, Lemon or one of the council members Apple, Rex or Bright Moon were quick to shove them back. The council were well aware of the good life they had now, compared to the hellish experience of the Australian outback they had been forced to weather for years. It was mainly some of the much younger fluffies who were starting to become talkie and walkie babies that got a little rowdy. But either the council or their mother’s quickly corrected that behavourer.

There was an incident or two with Apollo, but that was primarily him just being an over energetic ball of fur that couldn’t sleep. The Dandyman quickly set up a way for him to exhaust that energy during the day. He had the excitedable pegasus running laps around the barn. Apollo was more than happy to run laps around the nest, he loved running.

“Daddeh wut am thinkie bout?” The soft voice of Lemon drew the Dandyman’s focus as the white mare trotted up to him.

“Oh nothing really my little Lemon.” The Dandyman said with a smile as the mare stood between his legs, her tail wagging happily. She was sure not to push on Cocoa she didn’t want to hurt the pregnant mare.

“Ow am Cwocwo an tummeh babbehs?” The mare asked curiously as she leaned in and gently nuzzled her snout to Cocoa’s who giggled.

“Cwocwo am gud. Tummeh babbehs am gud babbehs! Wots of wiggwies. Cwocwo hab biggest heawt happies. Wub babbehs!” Cocoa said happily her stumpy legs wiggling joyfully. Despite her tired and weary expression, she was content with her new life. She could finally have her babies, for the first time in many forevers she could be a mummah! She not longer had the fear of her babies being born before they were ready from bad special huggies.

Lemon giggled before hugging one of her daddys legs. She unhooked herself and ran off to play with some of the other fluffies that were running about in her daddys front yard.

Dandyman chuckled as he gently scratched Cocoa behind the ear making her coo sweetly. “Yes, that’s my good girl. Look after yourself. It won’t be long now until you have your babies.”

“Otay daddeh.” Cocoa smiled sweetly up at her new daddy, her tail swaying back and forth. She loved her new daddy with all her heart, he had given her a new home, given back her leggies and tail. She had plenty of sweet nummies for her soon babies and the bestest of friends. Cocoa was so happy the herd was kind to her. She adored Lilac, the much larger mare was a good friend.

“I’ll be moving you into the herd’s barn with Lilac and her foals tonight. The nurse mares will help take good care of you especially when your babies come.” The Dandyman instructed, getting a confused look from Cocoa.

“Nu wub Cwocwo an Wiwac an Wiwac’s babbehs? Weab safewoom?” She looked a little upset thinking her daddy was abandoning her.

“The safe room was never a permanent room Cocoa. Eventually you and Lilac would join the herd in the big nest. The barn is a big saferoom for all my fluffies. You’ll have lots of new friends. The nurse mares will help take good care of you. And if you have your babies when I’m not around they will help you.” The Dandyman instructed using a calm emotions spell on the mare helping to sooth her. The tears that threatened to swell slowly died down as the mare seemed to slowly nod.

“Otay daddeh. Cwocwo mwiss safewoom buh wub fwens.” The Dandyman gave her a reassuring smile and a pat on the head.

“DUMMEH APOWWO! WEAB PWETTIEST AFWODITE AWONE!” The loud but dainty voice of the familiar deva like unicorn shouted. She was huffing and puffing as she glared at Apollo.

The overly energetic burnt orange pegasus was bounding around the mare. She was his bestest friend, at least to him. He had always been talking to her back at the place with all the fluffies, even during the dark times. Apollo thought Aphrodite was funny and he liked her.

“Hehehehe Afwodite fwunny! Am bestest fwen!” The energetic pegasus said with a big grin his wings flapping.

The bright magenta mare huffed as she stomped a foot and glared at him.

“Nu am fwen! Yu am tawk tu muchies!” She flicked her mane, her luscious long locks being tucked behind her ears.

“Heee! Afwodite am su siwwy! Am bestest fwen!” Apollo giggled again as he stopped in front of her his long tail flicking back and forth. He was just a bundle of energy, even now as he was standing he was still bouncing on his hoofs, unable to be still at all.

The pageant mare raised a hoof to palm her own face and gave a long grunt of annoyance.

“You okay over their girl?” The Dandyman asked with a small smile seeing the interaction between the two. Dispite Aphrodite’s harsh words or appeared disdain for the stallion, she never pushed him away and seemed to be around him often. Lemon often told him the deva would sneak into Apollo’s bed once the fluffy had fallen asleep. Aphrodite would then apparently leave the next morning before the energetic pegasus woke up returning to her own bed.

The mare rolled her eyes looking to her daddy and pointed to the stallion, “Apowwo am jus bein dummeh fwuffy. To woudsies.”

The pegasus’s eyes simply twinkled as he giggled never losing his smile.

“He’ll tire out shortly. Apollo! Go for a run around the nest burn off some of that energy!” The Dandyman barked out the order, despite the tone and volume of his voice he was still smiling.

“OTAY DADDEH!” Apollo turned and gave a hoof salute before he zoomed off kicking up dirt right into Aprodite’s mane.

“NUUUU!” Aprodite had a look of horror on her face as the dust got into her mane as the pegasus ran off oblivious to the world. “Huuu am diwty, nu wike.”

“Sorry girl.” The Dandyman chuckled as he clicked his fingers in the direction of the mare casting a quick prestidigitation. The dust was quickly cleaned from her coat returning her to her usual immaculate appearance. The deva preened as she admired her clean coat.

“Dank yu daddeh.” The mare thanked her father before she turned and began to walk after the pegasus to keep an eye on him.

“Sigh yung wub…” A pair of worn, old and tired voices said simultaneously.

A pair of worn out fluffies stood beneath an old gum tree. Their eyes tired, wrinkles framing their fluff as they sat together watching all the young fluffies run about. Their fur had begun to grew, one more so than the other. The old pegasus Maxu with his burgundy hair watched with a tired smile. His wings were resting on his back, he didn’t have the energy to flap them. Beside him sat the oldest member of the herd, watching with her lone eye, Bright Moon. The old mare whose fluff was once a vibrant black had long turned grey. Her beige hair had changed, becoming greyer and thinner.

Max was happy to be with a new family, shy at first he quickly began to open up. He and Bright Moon had become good friends, along with some of the older fluffies like the earthie Benny. Max was a fluffy of over six years old, similar to Benny. Meanwhile Bright Moon had lived for over nine long years and was nearing the end of her life cycle.

“Tu be yung agwan.” Max said with a small smile.

“Su fuww ob da enewgi.” Bright Moon followed up as her one tired eye watching a foal run past her babbling excitedly as they were chased by another.

The two were quite content to spend their leisure time simply sitting and watching. They found joy in the playing of the younger fluffies and foals as they meandered about. Occasionally one of the playing fluffies would roll a ball towards them and they would push it back with a small smile.

They were not special friends, merely friends. Bright Moon had only ever had one special friend in her lifetime and would never have another. As for Max he had long been desexed by his previous owners and had no interest in having children or mating. So the two had formed a mutual friendship with one another.

“You two good over there?” The Dandyman turned to look at the old pair. The two smiled up at their daddy.

“Bwite Moon gud daddeh. Am jus watchen widdow fwuffies pway.” The elderly mare responded with a soft smile.

“Mwacks happi heaw daddeh. Widdow wuns nee watchen.” The elderly pegasus responded with his wings giving a soft flap before resuming their position unmoving on his back.

“If you need anything let me know.” The Dandyman responded to the two with a small smile.

One of the foals, a little pink filly, stopped in front of the elderly duo and smiled happily, her tail wagging. She then lunged forward and engulfed Bright Moon in the biggest hug she could manage. Though in truth she was merely just hugging the elderly mare’s leg.

“Wub! Wub Bwite Moon! peeep!” The little filly giggled as she nuzzled into the old fluffies fluff. Bright Moon’s smile grew showing her weary gums. Leaning down the old mare gently nuzzled the little filly making the foal giggle.

“Wub yu tu widdow wun. Nao yu gu pway.” Bright Moon used her snout to gently nudge the filly in the direction of the other foals. The filly babbled and then ran off to continue playing.

As the Dandyman relaxed admiring the scene of his fluffies, in the distance the herd was playing about around their home. He could see many colours of all kinds as fluffies ran about playing. However he was soon disturbed by the ringing of his phone. Raising a quizickle brow he answered it.

“Hello Dandyman speaking.”

“Hello Mr Malethus this is Janice of the Wellington Fluffymart. I’m calling about the arrival of your order.” The voice of the young woman from the fluffmart echoed from the speaker.

“Ah Janice how lovely to hear from you, please call me Dandy.” The Dandyman spoke with a beaming smile as a twinkle flashed in his eyes. His order had finally arrived. He had put in a large bulk purchase online almost a week ago, now it had finally arrived, or at least some of it had.

“As you wish Mr…ah as you wish Dandy. The first shipment of your online order has arrived at the shop. I have personally gone through the arrived items and everything is in perfect order, no damages or faulty products. Would you like it delivered to your home address?” The woman spoke in a professional tone, the Dandyman was a extremely valued customer.

“It’s such a lovely day, is the shop open this morning? I’d love to pick it up personally.” The Dandyman responded as his other hand continued petting Cocoa.

“We are open everyday. Mondays and Fridays from 9 to 5. Saturdays 10 to 3 and Sunday’s 10 to 1.” Janice answered honestly, even if they were closing soon she would happily wait for the Dandyman to come collect his order. He was a big client and her Manager had been over the moon over his last purchases. Especially when she learned of his desire to purchase any and all foals birthed by the glitter mare no matter if they were high-class or duds.

“Excellent news. I’ll be in within the hour. I have a few other supplies I’d like to collect. If you’d be so kind as to prepare me a pallet of the following fluffy pre-cooked pasta’s I’d be much obliged. Fettuccine, Alfredo, Carbonara, Bolognese, Ravioli and Macaroni Cheese.” The Dandyman listed the types of pasta dishes off. The Fluffmart’s didn’t just sell boring old plain sketti but other types of pasta dishes. The Dandyman had begun to run low on his stock, seeing as he had been feeding the Fluffies the pasta dishes almost every night. It had been a number of special occasions.

Last night Molly had given birth to six chirpies, three earthies, a unicorn and two pegasus. The night before the pegasus Creampuff had given birth to five chirpies, surprisingly all were born Pegasi, each of them was the same whipped cream colour as their mother. However they had inherited the same yellow mane and tail as their father Bark, who was also a pegasus.

“Oh by the way how are those two glitter foals from last time going? Still a handful?” Janice asked, remembering the two hellish foals that were demanding of everything.

“Oh them? Cerulean and Sapphire are the perfect little fluffies. So well behaved. They’ve learned well and are no longer such unruly little fluffies. I’ll show you a picture and videos I have when I come to collect my order.” The Dandyman spoke with pride as he caught the two foals playing from the corner of his eye. The two were babbling something with some of the other foals.

“Oh that’s great. I wasn’t sure if you could properly re-train them. Speaking of unruly fluffies though, I also have a fluffy here you might be interested in.” Janice said with mirth in her tone.

“Oh? Tell me more? I’m always interested in fluffies.” The Dandyman remarked with a small grin forming on his charming features.

“Well it seems one of the mills we get our fluffies from, cut a few corners. Amongst one of the new foal litter’s we got, one had bestest baby syndrome with developing signs of maybe either smarty or bitch mare syndrome not sure. Regardless she’s quite the little terror, demanding, hitting other foals including her siblings and she’s already relieved herself on me twice.” Janice explained with disgust in her voice, she didn’t like to be shat on. Especially by sorry poopies, they smelled horrendous.

“Well now that is problematic.” The Dandyman hummed as he tapped an index finger to his chin.

“I remember your card said you were a rehabilitator and since you managed to tame the two glitter foals perhaps you’d like this filly.” Janice spoke up her voice growing with excitement. If the Dandyman could really retrain foals then the business potential was limitless.

“Prepare her for me. I’ll be around soon, I think I’ll even bring one of my fluffies along for the ride.” The Dandyman answered in kind, giving a light chuckle at the woman’s excitement as if he could tell what she was thinking.

“See you soon Dandy.” Janice and the Dandyman then hung up on each other.

“Sorry Cocoa, time to get up.” The Dandyman waved a hand casting telekinesis to gently lift the mare up.

“Otay daddeh!” Cocoa wiggled her stubby legs feeling the wind under her as she giggled.

Dandy then moved the floating mare over to the large barn. She giggled and squirmed in the air pretending she was swimming. The herd of fluffies greeted him as he walked into the barn and to the mother’s room. He ignored the pitiful sobbing of Blaze as he ate the herds turds. The fluffy had managed to learn and not acrued any more days to his sentence. As long as he was good his punishment would end by the end of the new week.

The Dandyman sat Cocoa down on the padded floor, she was immediately swarmed by the nurse mare’s who began tending to her. “She’ll have her foals at any moment, girls. Look after her for me.”

“Otay daddeh!” Pearl the nurse mare in charge after Bright Moon said with a wave of her hoof. She helped Cocoa settle in and get comfortable on the pillow, making sure the feeding bowls and water were directly in front of her. She gently nudged the mare’s end into the litter tray making sure she was properly positioned.

“Good girl.” The Dandyman then turned and walked back, heading to the homestead. He searched amongst the sea of fluffy for a particular fluffy. He soon spotted his target playing with some of the older foals.

“LEMON!” The Dandyman called for the herd smarty. Lemon’s ears perked up and she immediately went running up to him.

“Daddeh caww fu Wemom?” The little fluffy wagged her tail excitedly awaiting her orders.

“It’s such a nice day, why don’t you accompany me into town. There’s someone I’d like you to meet.” The Dandyman crouched down low to his fluffy, a hand gently resting on her head.

“Fwen fu Wemon?”[/color] Asked the mare excitedly as she stood up on her hind legs. Her front legs extended as she assumed the uppie pose. The Dandyman chuckled and picked the mare up, making her giggle sweetly.

“Weee teehee upies!”

“Yes, a friend. Her name’s Janice, she’s a nice lady. And she has a new fluffy for me.” The Dandyman explained as he turned the mare around in his arms to hold her.

“Nice wady! Nu fwuffy?” The mare’s tail began to wag. She was a little unsure about the hoomin lady, but her daddeh said she was a nice lady, Lemon would trust him.

“Oh yes, but this little filly is very naughty. She needs to learn a little lesson my dear.” The Dandyman tipped his head, his hat crescending downwards, partially covering his face in shadows. His void like hues glowed a sinister white a grin slowly spread across his charming deatures.

“Oooooh! Bwad fiwwy! Huuuu huuu Wemon hewp daddeh!” The mare said with a matching devious smile. She had been perhaps hanging around her daddy a little to long.

And done, seems Lemon’s been hanging around her father a little too long.

Round of applause and shout out to FallenAngel007 for the artwork I had commissioned. I absolutely love it.

Hope you enjoyed the chapter and the art.
