Index of the Sam Adams Guide – Volume 1
Samuel Adams and his fluffies (Artist:Cookiecrunch)
This index covers the different fluffy breeds that have been featured in the Sam Adams Guide thus far. It gives a rundown on their current status in terms of distribution and production, as well as any unique events, phenomena and characters associated with each breed. (OOC: This additional text, provided below each breed description is written out of character, and is meant to represent the author’s thoughts, if any.)
The Sam Adams Guide features a ‘multiverse’ of sorts, based on the many differing canons and stories told on the booru throughout the years. In the primary universe/timeline of the Guide’s setting, fluffy ponies have their own rights and regulations thanks in part to welfare groups such as the Advocacy for Biotoy Adoption as Pets (ABAP). Over a period of time, they have generated many breeds, as various breed creators, whether through manual breeding or genetic engineering, created their own unique breed of fluffies. However, the recent and unexpected demise of Hasbio has seen a disappearance of a lot of fluffy breeds, which had already affected their previous low numbers due to departure of many prominent genetic engineers.
It should be noted that the Guide focuses on breeds created by Hasbio and their associated staff (read: fluffy artists who were active when the booru was still around) The second volume of the Guide (chapters 11 and onwards) will mention some of the newer breeds created by the succeeding company to Hasbio, but the focus will still be on what could be considered “Hasbio breeds”.
~
Type 1 Breeds
The most common type of fluffy breed, they are also referred to as the “munchkin” or “boar” breeds. They trace their lineage to breeds such as the Marcusmaximus and Santanon lines, and are considered the most similar to the original ArtAnon variant. These breeds are typified by a rotund body, much like members of Suiidae, and thick stubby legs with large hooves. For these fluffies, fluff is evenly spread around the body. Due to the influence and popularity of breeds such as the Carpdime and MarcusMaximus, this type of breed has endured and is the most common depiction of fluffies as most people know them.
Prince (Artist:Carpdime)
Carpdime
Breed status: Least Concern
Production status: Active
Point of origin: US
Associated genetic subspecies/subvariants: Various (including kitsune fluffy, USB fluffy and so on)
Featured in: Chapters 1, 8, 9 and Gaiden III
Prominent stories/pictures: Various (including Avocado, Life of her own, the Last Baby, Fluffy in the middle of a divorce, and so on)
Associated character in the guide: Prince
Further info: Carpdime fluffies are currently the most abundant and widespread Type 1 fluffy breed. The breed was in active production initially until its chief genetic engineer disappeared from Hasbio. However, his recent return, as well as the strong maintenance of the breed has resulted in the continued proliferation of this breed. Some have likened Carpdimes to Labrador retrievers, especially since Carpdime fluffies have developed additional function and utility within society.
OOC: At the time when the guide was first written, Carpdime had not yet returned to the fluffy pony fandom. However, during the hiatus I took between Chapter 7 and Gaiden III, Caprdime made his return. The depiction of Carpdime breeds being prolific is based off the familiarity of Carpdime’s work within the larger fandom, as well as how he has inspired so many other people throughout the fandom, including myself.

Confused fluffy (Artist:Marcusmaximus)(Fluffybooru id:4313)
Marcusmaximus
Breed status: Vulnerable
Production status: Inactive? (2020)
Point of origin: US
Associated genetic subspecies/subvariants: Fluffalo, Cube fluffies
Featured in: Chapter 2
Prominent stories/pictures: D&D fluffies, Educating fluffies, Fluffy organ
Associated character in the guide: Rex
Further info: One of the older fluffy breeds, released at the same time as Santanon, and arguably one of the most well-known, production of Marxusmaximus fluffies had halted a few years back. Production is known to be on and off. The creator of the breed resurfaced not too long ago, but disappeared again due to personal matters.
OOC: I had the privilege of being in contact with Marcusmaximus a year ago, and he drew a few pictures when he made his return in July of 2020. However, he hasn’t been online much lately, even on his webcomic

Fluffy family at play (Artist:Buwwito)
Buwwito
Breed status: Endangered
Production status: Halted (2014)
Point of origin: US
Associated genetic subspecies/subvariants: Microfluffies
Featured in: Chapter 3
Prominent stories/pictures: Buwwito’s Official Guide to Micro Fluffies
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: A fluffy breed that was produced sometime after the Santanon & Marcusmaximus, but before the Carpdime. The Buwwito is cited as one of the progenitors of the Carpdime breed, along with the Quickhorn. However, both breeds are no longer in production.
~
Cowd! (Artist:AIDS)(Fluffybooru id: 41867)
AIDS
Breed status: Least concern
Production status: On temporary hold (?)
Point of origin: Sweden
Associated genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Chapter 3
Prominent stories/pictures: Many, including Shmoo and Esmerelda
Associated character in the guide: Erik
Further info: Descended from the Carpdime, AIDS fluffies are unique to Sweden. Loyal and intelligent, AIDS fluffies remain to be one of the chief exports of Sweden. The recent demise of Hasbio has seen their numbers now limited to Sweden, but there population remains strong.
OOC: AIDS had drawn his foals as looking like Carpdime foals, a reason why I have characterized his breed as “the Swedish Carpdime”. While a lot of his artwork was lost due to the demise of the booru, some of it can be found on his deviantart. It is my hope that it will be reuploaded on this site in future.

Mummah and babies (Artist:FierceDeityLynx) (Fluffybooru id: 49465)
FierceDeityLynx
Breed status: Endangered
Production status: Terminated (2016)
Point of origin: Germany
Associated genetic subspecies/subvariants: Munchkin fluffies
Featured in: Chapter 3
Prominent stories/pictures: The Story of Plum
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: FierceDeityLynxes are considered to be the German Carpdime, though is unknown if the genetic engineer responsible for the breed derived his design from Carpdime. The foals are noticeable similar, lacking fluff in their infancy, but both breeds age at different rates, with FDLs aging more rapidly. Following the departure of its engineer, FDL’s have been sighted in the wild every once in two years, but the recent demise of Hasbio makes it uncertain if they will reappear again.
OOC: Although FDL officially left the fluffy fandom in 2016, he occasionally popped by one the booru, first in 2018, then in 2020. However, with the booru now gone, it is uncertain if FDL will appear on this site, if at all.

Untitled (Artist:KMEB) (Fluffybooru id: 3504)
KMEB
Breed status: Critically-Endangered
Production status: Terminated (2012)
Point of origin: US
Associated genetic subspecies/subvariants: Cottonfluffies, Garden fluffies
Featured in: Chapter 5 - Episode 2
Prominent stories/pictures: Many (including Supe_Fluff, Suzy, Rage fluff and so on)
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: KMEB fluffies were, at one time, one of the more populous fluffy breeds, with mills churning out a lot of their stock within a four month period. However, by the end of that period the genetic engineer openly left the company. Work from this breed influenced later breeds, a reason why garden fluffies and cottonfluffies are still discussed. However, because production of the breed halted so early, almost all KMEB’s that exist currently are watered down recreations.
OOC: KMEB’s prolific period within four months of 2012, followed by his abrupt departure, is the stuff of legend. It could be a case of burn out, but it does echo of a time when MLP fans, and by extension fluffy pony fans, were incredibly creative.

Mangoalie mare and foals (Artist:Mangoalie)(Fluffybooru id: 51382)
Mangoalie
Breed status: Endangered
Production status: Halted (201i8)
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Gaiden I
Prominent stories/pictures: The fluffy metropolis
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: Insufficient data
OOC: Mangoalie is unique in being one of the few people, other than KMEB and Fosterfluffy, to depict a form of fluffy society
~
Nursing mare (Artist:Renaissance)
Renaissance
Breed status: Vulnerable
Production status: Recently re-activated(?)
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Gaiden I
Prominent stories/pictures: Isolation, Rainy Day
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: Insufficient data
OOC: Renaissance came to my attention because of the introductory post he made on the booru, and a lot of what he stated corresponded with my own thoughts. In addition, he voiced a defence of Mangoalie’s depiction of a fluffy city, which I consider admirable.
~
Pikachu hoodie (Artist:PeppermintParchment)(Fluffybooru id: 38896)
Peppermint Parchment
Breed status: Vulnerable
Production status: Terminated(?) (2019)
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: Pep Seafluffies
Featured in: Chapter 6
Prominent stories/pictures: Fisher and Kegstand
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: Peppermintparchment fluffies were popular as seasonally themed fluffies, as enough stock were produced for people interested in purchasing fluffies past their season. Population rates of the PeppermintParchment have declined in recent years, but the genetic engineer herself had not disappeared until fairly recently.
OOC: There was a write-up that Peppermintparchment posted on the booru which mentions how she was active until 2018, then just too a hiatus. The last image she posted was in June 2019, and the last comment she posted was in December 2019. The author hopes that she will learn of the new site, but seems unlikely.
~
The New baby (Artist: Phantomfluffy)(Fluffybooru id: 9811)
Phantomfluffy
Breed status: Endangered
Production status: Halted (2014)
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: Super breeder (fluffy with four or more teats)
Featured in: Chapter 6
Prominent stories/pictures: Fluffy neighbours (Citrus and Bunny & her foals)
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: Endangered breed, one that was produced for a short time. Most notable for having a unique breeder dam designed for high volume breeding. Concept of a mare with more than two teats sadly never caught on.
~
Greentea’s Hugbox OC (Artist:Greentea)(Fluffybooru id: 47781)
Greentea
Breed status: Extinct
Production status: Halted(?) (2017)
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Gaiden II
Prominent stories/pictures: Greentea’s hugbox
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: Insufficient data
~
Untitled (Artist: Fosterfluffy) (Fluffybooru id: 50359)
Fosterfluffy
Breed status: Critically Endangered
Production status: Halted(?) (2019)
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Chapter 7
Prominent stories/pictures: Max & Shark Week
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: Described by a Pinkyfluffy judge as the “best fluffy breed in the world”, the Fosterfluffy existed only in small numbers to begin with. Highly sought after, the recent demise of Hasbio has put in jeopardy the existence of this breed.
OOC: Fosterfluffy first started submitting art to the booru around about 2017 to 2018. The last comment I remember he made was sometime at the end of 2019. I hope that, with the death of fluffybooru, he will somehow find out about the new site. But, so far, there has been no word on him.
~
Roseluck (Artist:BDB) (Fluffybooru id: 10327)
Black-Dragon-Blood (BDB)
Breed status: Endangered
Production status: Terminated (2014)
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: Bat fluffy, Fluffy mold
Featured in: Chapter 8
Prominent stories/pictures: Circuit the cyborg Fluffy and The Rising
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: Critically endangered breed that was produced for a short time as a high-pedigree breed for upmarket clientele. The engineer that developed the breed was known to be experimental and developed a unique breed of bat-winged pegasi, but also created dustfluffies and the bizarre fluffy mold.
~
Cherry and foals (Artist:MEH)(Fluffybooru id: 5979)
Meh
Breed status: Endangered
Production status: Halted (2013)
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Chapter 8 - Episode 2
Prominent stories/pictures: NISC
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: One of the first breeds covered in earlier documentation about the initial mass industrialization of fluffies, prior to the formation of ABAP and better regulation for fluffy production and well-being. Further information on this breed is lacking, following the sudden demise of Hasbio in the primary timeline.
In an alternate timeline visited by the protagonist in Chapter 8, fluffy ponies resembling the Meh breed are considered to be an artificial bioconstruct made by the same process that first created the replicants.
OOC: Meh was one of the few artists in the fluffy fandom to make an explicit reference to Blade Runner, though one could argue that replicants are the best way to understand fluffies, at least as “biotoys”
~
“Fluffy playing with a ball of yarn” (Artist: Art-Anon) (Fluffybooru id: 136)
Art-Anon
Breed status: Extinct
Production status: Terminated (2012)
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Chapter 10
Prominent stories/pictures: N/A
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: According to Hasbio record, the first fluffy breed to be developed, based on the cadavers found of the elusive MM622 fluffy pony product developed by the scientist Micah Mixalot. The genetic engineer responsible for this breed created only ten of them, before terminating his contract with Hasbio. Incapable of reproduction, this breed is the only fluffy breed that can truly be considered “a biotoy”.
OOC: Art-anon can be considered to be the father of the fluffy pony fandom as we know it. While it is true that Mixxermike drew the first fluffy ponies and used the name “fluffy”, it was Art-anon doing art of the various fluffy pony greentexts that set the ground for the fandom. Art-anon was the first to depict fluffies playing with building blocks, speaking fluffspeak, and loving spaghetti.
Art-anon does not wish to be associated with the fluffy pony fandom

Type 2 Breeds
These breeds have a longer body to head ratio compared to the Type 1 and have a leg configuration different from other fluffies. They are also characterized by a lack of fluff around their legs, and are usually smaller compared to Type 1 or Type 3 breeds. These type of fluffies used to have a bit more presence back in the day but are not as prevalent now. Considering their unique appearance compared to the Art-anon, it is currently theorized that they have a different influence in their design and breeding.
A peculiar fact about Type 2 fluffies is that many of the breeds, save for the Coalheart and Pillows, have been seen to be capable of breaking the laws of physics to various degrees. However, and with proper handling and management, this abilities do not surface readily, and thus are not considered as dangerous as the “impractical” breeds.

A feral fluffy family (Artist:Foxhoarder)(Fluffybooru id: 52984)
Foxhoarder
Breed status: Least concern
Production status: Active
Point of origin: Finland
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Chapter 1
Prominent stories/pictures: Literal Sadbox, Special Friends and the Fluffy Herder
Associated character in the guide: Mauve
Further info: Currently the most populous Type 2 breed, and is the most representative of the type. Foxhoarder are still being produced, even after the sudden demise of Hasbio. Foxhoarder fluffies have been known to possess a strong morality and loyalty, despite their small size.
Along with Fluffsplosions, Foxhoarders are also used in the teleportation devices operated by ABAP and the Fluffy defence League, owing to their ability to access the Nuusphere.
~
Beanie and her Foals (Artist:Gowdie)(Fluffybooru id: 8807)
Gowdie
Breed status: Endangered
Production status: Halted (2016)
Point of origin: Unknown (possibly Europe)
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: n/A/
Featured in: Chapter 2
Prominent stories/pictures: Fluffy Tip #19, Beanie & Foals
Associated character in the guide: Goldilocks
Further info: Described by its creator as being a mix of the Marcusmaximus, Mutagen and Aichi breeds, the Gowdie was one of the archetypal Type 2 fluffy breeds, along with the Coalheart. The breed developed further attention due to the famous barista fluffy Beanie as one of its members. However, the breed has not been production for years, and was one of the breeds heavily affected by the sudden demise of Hasbio.
~
Muffin
Breed status: Least concern
Production status: Active
Point of origin: Europe
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: Muffin microfluffies (aka Ant microfluffies)
Featured in: Sam visits Muffin
Prominent stories/pictures: Tumbly
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: A fairly young breed, Muffin fluffies have often been compared to Foxhoarder fluffies. Muffin fluffies have developed a popularity due to the celebrity status of its genetic engineer, as well as the most prized fluffy of the breed she created, Tumbly. As this breed was created by an engineer independent of Hasbio’s influence, their numbers have not been affected by the recent demise of Hasbio.
~
Mummah gives bestest huggies (Artist:Coalheart)(Fluffybooru id: 201)
Coalheart
Breed status: Endangered
Production status: Terminated (2015)
Point of origin: Spain
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: Toy fluffies
Featured in: Chapter 7
Prominent stories/pictures: Fluffy shelter for the Abused
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: The oldest known Type 2 fluffy breed, and may have been created at around about the time of the Marcusmaximus and Santanon. Much like the Marcusmaximus for the Type 1, Coalheart fluffies were once considered the representative breed for the type 2 fluffy. However, the chief genetic engineer long left Hasbio, and as interest in the Type 2 breeds waned, so too did Coalheart numbers. Coalhearts are now mostly limited to small domestic populations in Spain. There have been recent sightings of Coalhearts in the wild lately, but they may not signify a bump in their numbers.
Compared to other Type 2 fluffies, Coalhearts do not have the ability to bend the laws of physics, making them even more vulnerable.
OOC: Coalheart drew two new images lately, but its highly unlikely that he will be returning.
~
Type 3 Breeds
While the same size as Type 1 fluffies, Type 3s are distinguished by their thinner legs and smaller hooves. As such, they usually lack the body weight and size of Type 1s to account for their leg and hoof size.Mosty Type 3 fluffies can trace their lineage back to the Shadysmarty. This breed was, at one time, a popular fluffy breed that attracted various genetic engineers to develop their breeds in this style. Howeve, its creator disappeared from Hasbio following
William (Artist:Pumpiikin) (Fluffybooru id: 46552)
Pumpiikin
Breed status: Least concern
Production status: Active
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: Fluffalo, Angora fluffies
Featured in: Chapter 4
Prominent stories/pictures: World of William & Sourpuss
Associated characters in the guide: John and Bull
Further info: Currently the most populous Type 3 breed, and is the most representative of the type. The Pumpiikin version of the fluffalo has also been the most influential fluffalo forebear, having influenced other breeders and engineers to create their own variants. Although fluffy meat has been banned in most countries, fluffy meat (especially fluffalo meat) is still sold in some parts of the world, of which Pumpiikin fluffies and fluffalos are the primary source. Debate is still ongoing as to whether this should be allowed or banned.

Fancy fluffies (Artist:GRANPA156) (Fluffybooru id: 24075)
GRANPA 156
Breed status: Extinct in the wild
Production status: Halted (2015)
Point of origin: Unknown (US or Japan)
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: Hasbio Biological Companion 2.0
Featured in: Chapter 4
Prominent stories/pictures: The Story of Seabreeze, Hasbio Press Conference
Associated character in the guide: N/A?
Further info: Critically endangered breed, one that was produced for a short time.
What remains of the breed is currently house at Hasbio, with a few remants of the breeds in the possession of a few owners. Hasbio attempted to create a fluffy that was a more show-accurate version of one of their properties, but the attempt did not bear fruit as the product spoke in fluffspeak.
OOC: Based on the structure of the legs and hooves, I have classify GRANPA156 as a type 3, but it could be argue that the breed is more “unique”.
~
Unique Breeds
Although many genetic engineers at Hasbio seemed to follow a specific mold or idea when developing their fluffy breeds, some genetic engineers sough to do their own thing, and developed their own unique breeds. These different from the three types by having unique physiological attributes such as longer legs, puffier cheeks, better agility, and so on and so forth.
Safe room (Artist: Yehdoo) (Fluffybooru id: 50771)
Yehdoo
Breed status: Insufficient data
Production status: Inactive (?) (2020)
Point of origin: Russia
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Chapter 1
Prominent stories/pictures: Sound Steps
Associated character in the guide: Velvet
Further info: Characterized by their long legs, puffy cheeks and relatively fast speed, Yehdoos are popular as guide fluffies for the blind. However, the engineer responsible for the Yehdoo breed was last seen to be active shortly before the disappearance of FLuffycommissions. New releases of the breed have not been seen since
OOC: I first saw Yehdoo posting again on the fluffy threads on 4chan’s /trash/ in early 2000. Following that, she posted more strips of her Sound Steps series, filling the gaps in its story. However, following the rogue admin incident, Yehdoo has not appeared again since then. I hope she is fine.

Sneaky fluffy! (Artist:Waggytail) (Fluffybooru id: 31318)
Waggytail
Breed status: Vulnerable
Production status: Halted (2016)
Point of origin: New Zealand
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Prominent stories/pictures: Many, including Racing fluffies, Fluffies with natural horse colours, The Farmer Fluffy
Associated character in the guide: Maurice
Further info: Fiercely loyal and active, Waggytails different from Type 1 and Type 3 fluffies due to their increased agility and comparatively lower body mass. It is for this reason what Waggytails are considered a unique breed.
The sudden disappearance of the Waggytail creator has seen their numbers drop drastically. However, the breed has seen some revival attempts particularly amongst Carpdime breeders, who have recently produced their own recreation of the Waggytail based off genetics from the Carpdime breed.
~
Bestest mummah find nyu homie fow babbehs (Artist:McGonagall)(Fluffybooru id: 41920)
McGonagall
Breed status: Least Concern
Production status: Halted (2016)
Point of origin: United Kingdom (possibly Scotland)
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: Known microfluffy variant
Featured in: Chapter 2
Prominent stories/pictures: Bestest mummah find nyu homie fow babbehs!
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: Out of the various fluffy breeds covered in the guide, McGonagalls are some of the unique. Like the Yehdoo, they share puffy cheeks, full of fluff. However, unlike the longer legs of the Yehdoo, the McGonagall legs are stubbier, even stubbier than the Type 1 or Type 2s. In addition, and despite their smaller size, their bodies are full of fluff, distinguishing them from the Type 2s. As such, McGonagall fluffies are a unique breed.
Despite the official McGonagall line having been terminated a few years back, many enthusiasts have perpetuated the line. In addition, some engineers have replicated the McGonagall, as one Carpdime fluffy has been successfully bred to mimic their overall look.
OOC: The unusual proliferation of the McGonagall in the setting of the Guide can be attributed to the wide attention that McGonagall has gotten within the fluffy fandom, to the extent that many of the newer artists have based their designs on his work.
~
Star (Artist:Fluffus)
Fluffus
Breed status: Least Concern
Production status: Active
Point of origin: Unknown
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Chapter 2
Prominent stories/pictures: Starstruck, Gardel/Fluffus’s The Fluffy Sink, CHOP
Associated character in the guide: Arthur
Further info: The largest breed of fluffy pony, the Fluffus is also the strongest, and has been known to display heightened aggression. It is widely speculated that the Fluffus was not bred, but was the result of natural selection amongst surviving fluffies in the wild, making them comparable to the free roaming feral horses such as the Mustang and Welsh Pony. The size, strength and vigour of the Fluffus has attracted enthusiasts to collate the species and attempt to rear them domestically, whether by free-range farming or in Foalcan mills. However, the domesticated fluffus is not comparable to the wild, untamed Fluffus.

Joseph (Artist:Squeakyfriend)
Squeakyfriend
Breed status: Recovering
Production status: Previously Halted (2017), now resumed (2021)
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: Various undocumented (including a water fluffy, a bat fluffy, pull & pop fluffy and so on)
Featured in: Chapter 4
Prominent stories/pictures: Various, including Doctor Crazystein, the Toy Castle and The Unicorn who Flew
Associated character in the guide: Joseph
Further info: A joint project between Cutebox Labs Inc. and Hasbio ,the Squeakyfriend breed is considered among the most intelligent of fluffy breeds, with only the Mutagen and Pinkyfluffy breeds demonstrating greater intelligence. Cutebox terminated their arrangement with Hasbio after some time, and as a result, the numbers of Squeakyfriend have steadily diminished. It is possible that they may have most disappeared following the sudden demise of Hasbio. The namesake of the breed, Dr. Squeakyfriend, was the founder of Cutebox Labs and was also a children’s author, having penned a number of books about the adventures of a runaway Unicorn and his long journey home.
OOC: Cutebox labs was a reference to HAL laboratory Inc. Squeakyfriend was very prolific and creative, much like KMEB and Carpdime. However, while it was clear that Squeakyfriend preferred drawing cute pictures, he may have been harassed for it. It is the author’s opinion that he used the term “cutebox” as opposed to “hugbox” in attempt to distance themselves from the supposed negative connotations of being a hugboxer. But, given Squeakyfriend’s preference for cute fluffies doing cute things, I consider him a hugboxer.

“Su-ke-chi” (Artist:EmotionalSupportFluffy)
EmotionalSupportFluffy
Breed status: Least concern
Production status: Active
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Sam Adams presents the ESF
Prominent stories/pictures: Various (including Mafia don fluffy)
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: A breed that was introduced fairly recently, the Emotional support fluffy was developed to provide emotional support to people in distress. The breed has shown a surprising amount of intelligence, comparable to the Squeakyfriend in terms of intelligence.
~
Golden Harvest (Artist:Mutagen) (Fluffybooru id: 10252)
Mutagen
Breed status: Endangered
Production status: Halted (2015)
Point of origin: Singapore
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: Pending further evaluation
Featured in: Chapter 5
Prominent stories/pictures: Postfluff and Mummah
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: The Mutagen was a somewhat rapidly changing experimental breed, with successive generations of the breed displaying new characteristics. It is for this reason that Mutagens were considered a unique breed, as they did not have traits that comfortably fit the known breed types.
In an alternate timeline visited by the protagonist in Chapter 5, feral fluffies of the Mutagen breed were somehow released in a Leningrad ravaged by a nuclear started by the Cuban Missile Crisis. Due to their proximity of radiation, and owing to their propensity for mutation, various different Mutagen mutans were observed. It is theorized that the Mutagens encountered were not native to that reality.

(Artist:Mirk)(Fluffybooru id: 31060)
Mirk
Breed status: Extinct
Production status: Halted (2015)
Point of origin: Unknown
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Gaiden II
Prominent stories/pictures: Mirk
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: An extinct high pedigree breed that was pronounced for a very short while by Hasbio, the Mirk had a startling number of similarities to the Fluffus breed, despite being unrelated. Further data on the Mirk breed has been lost following the sudden demise of Hasbio.
OOC: If Mirk had been more active, and GWN had done more hugbox/neutralbox, I might have had enough material to depict a fourth type of fluffies along with Fluffus.
~
Smokey (Artist: MrPaint) (Fluffybooru id: 28348)
MrPaint
Breed status: Critically Endangered
Production status: Halted (2014)
Point of origin: US
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Chapter 7
Prominent stories/pictures: The Smokeyverse (the Story of Smokey & Scar)
Associated character in the guide: N/A
Further info: Critically endangered breed, one that was produced for a short time. Is rumoured to be connected to a nationwide painting service in the US, hence the name.
OOC: I initially categorized MrPaint as a Type 1, but I slowly noticed the rather spry nature of his fluffies, which reminded me a lot of Waggytails. Given that MrPaint drew in MSPaint, it is possible that MrPaint fluffies could be of any breed type.
~
Pinkyfluffy
Fluffy della serenissima (Artist: Pinkyfluffy)
Pinkyfluffy
Breed status: Least Concern
Production status: Active
Point of origin: Italy
Known unique genetic subspecies/subvariants: N/A
Featured in: Chapter 6
Prominent stories/pictures: The Babysitter
Associated character in the guide: Bianca and Blanc
Further info: Pinkyfluffies are an anomaly within the world of Sam Adams. The result of an independent Italian program within Hasbio, the Pinkyfluffies of Italy demonstrate a greater intelligence and agency compared to other breeds, and have managed to function in Italian society to such a degree that they have carved a niche of their own. If not for their close genetic makeup to the average fluffy pony, and thus their ability to interbreed, Pinkyfluffies would have been treated as their own species, though it may actually be the case.
Pinkyfluffies are highly sought after as pets but, and due to their unique status and intelligence, the laws of adoption in regards to Pinkyfluffies are different compared to other breeds on virtue of their actions and abilities being closer to human people.
Due to the incongruent nature of Italy compared to the rest of the world, it is theorized that the Italy may have been changed by some external force.
OOC: How Pinkyfluffies came to be in the primary timeline of the Sam Adams Guide is one of the bigger mysteries that I hope to address in Vol 2.

Impractical breeds
Compared to the fluffy breeds described above, these fluffies are not considered ideal for pets. Although some fluffy breeds have been known to develop supernatural abilities such as the Muffin, Foxhoarder and Gowdie, these specific breeds have been known to bend reality to a dangerous level. Caution is advised.
